⚠️COMMUNITY MEMBERS TO BE ALERT⚠️

Randfontein Police are urging the members of the community to be more vigilant around them.

Randfontein is facing a problem with hijackings in and around the following areas: Finsbury, Mohlakeng, Main reef, R559 and N14 road. Problem areas for house robberies and business robberies are in and around Randfontein CBD, Homelake, Mohlakeng and Toekomsrus.

MOTORIST AND RESIDENTS SHOULD TAKE THE FOLLOWING SAFETY TIPS:

*Follow distance while driving so that you can have control in case of an emergency.
*Stay off your phone and check for suspicious people moving around especially when you stand at the robot and at the stop sign.
*Keep your motor vehicle doors locked.
Trust your instinct.
*Be observant
*Carefully observe the physical characteristics of the car hijackers and the vehicle’s they use to commit crime
*Use routes that are frequently used by motorist
*Do not stop when someone is flashing you with lights and drive to the nearest police station.
*Do not stop at secluded areas.
*Lock your doors and close your windows
*If you hear any noise outside your house at night do not go outside, contact your police station and ask for assistance.
*If you have an alarm at home always activate the alarm.

Randfontein Station Commander, MJ Manamela is urging the community to please work with the police and to come forward with any information which can assist the police.
